Legendary percussionist and Bay Area native Pete Escovedo will perform. An artist who broke down the barriers between Smooth Jazz, Salsa, Latin Jazz and contemporary music, Escovedo's name has been synonymous in the music industry for more than 50 years. The Pete Escovedo Latin Jazz Orchestra is sure to move you!
Entertainment
A variety of stellar entertainment is becoming a hallmark of Heart of SoMa. Up and coming singer-songwriter and musician Tad Worku gets things underway at the VIP Experience. Drummers arranged by Music Events 4 Causes will then lead Pete Escovedo and honored guests into the main event with beats and fanfare. Enrico Labayen, one of the most exciting Asian-American choreographers in the US has created a “Tango Duet” especially for this celebration. Finally, the hot sounds of The Pete Escovedo Latin Jazz Orchestra take us through the end of the evening.
Food & Drink
Heart of SoMa 2011 features a taste from the City's trendiest restaurants. Pedro's Cantina will kick things off with Latin fare and margaritas, while Bix, Fifth Floor and Waterbar hold court during the main event. Our bartenders will pour a variety of cocktails and wines throughout the evening. Alexander's Steakhouse will serve up the VIP Experience.
Venue
The fabulous setting for Heart of SoMa for the second year, Terra Gallery & Event Venue is a premiere contemporary events space. Centrally located and showcasing glittering nighttime views of the City skyline, Terra is a dazzling host for Heart of SoMa.
VIP Experience
VIP patrons will have an opportunity to meet and mingle with Pete Escovedo and other honored guests at a special reception at Mer, the lower level of Terra Gallery & Event Venue from 6-7 p.m. Delectable bites provided by Alexander's Steakhouse and live music by Tad Worku. Emcee
Keith L. McLane, BAS, of KLM Auctions, will serve as the Emcee. He is one of the country's preeminent fundraising auctioneers and special appeal/fund-a-need experts. He is one of only a small number of auctioneers in the country to have achieved the National Auctioneers Association's Benefit Auction Specialist (BAS).

Beneficiary
The beneficiary for Heart of SoMa 2011 is Life Learning Academy, a San Francisco Unified School District charter school serving high-school aged youth who have been involved in the juvenile justice system, or who face challenges including serious school failure, gang involvement, poverty, abuse and substance abuse.
